Travel back to the 80s with us to Aungel’s birthday party. Now Aungel has really clean, classic tastes and she wanted this theme to stay away from tacky and steer it more towards an elegant but fun 80s vibe.
The venue was her gorgeous home which we transformed to bring back the past! Since her home had so many angles, it was important that a statement areas be scattered throughout in order to have a really cohesive theme. Guests were also encouraged to come in costume which fit in perfectly since the party occurred around halloween.
Let’s start with the entrance.
When guests entered, they had the option of adorning themselves with shutter shades, slap bracelets or neon bangles to fully immerse themselves into the party. Posters of Aungel’s favorite movies were also placed around the area- a sure conversation starter!
A focal point was the bookshelf that we adorned with 80s memorabilia.
Vinyl records were also placed around and overlaid with drapery.
The cake and desserts were absolutely exquisite. My Delicias outdid themselves with works of art! Can we say nostalgia?
Because we were working with such high ceilings, black and white pictures of the birthday girl throughout the years were used to bring color and a walk down memory lane to the party.
A fabric backdrop was also created so guests would have something colorful and memorable to take pictures at!
Labels were also created to be wrapped around water bottles.
The backyard was decorated with two drink areas- one was a table with an assortment of drinks from the 80s and the other held very important alcoholic beverages.
A DJ was also hired and came out to play music while everyone was mingling below! This picture was taken while everyone was still setting up. (Sneak peek behind the scenes!)
Old school games like Operation and Hungry Hippos were also brought out to bring back those memories.
This was a really fun party to work on. It also helped that Aungel is creative and helped out with making the decorations.
It turned out to be one fabulous party with good music, food, drinks, decor and company! Who doesn’t love the 80s?
