Di + Jinho’s wedding day was one of the most rewarding yet stressful days I’ve faced as a planner. You see, the weather forecast said that there was an 80% chance of heavy rain that day and the ceremony was to take place outdoors while the reception was about a five minute walk (eight if you’re in heels) away in The City Club Dallas.
The clouds were an ominous gray and I waited up to the last possible minute to see if I needed to switch ceremony sites and move it up to the City Club. I truly wanted Di to have the ceremony she dreamed of and made the call to have it staged outdoors as planned. You can be sure I was checking the forecast every five minutes! About twenty minutes before the ceremony was to start and I was on the 69th floor helping set up for the reception, I get an urgent call from the DJ stating that the electrical outlets at the park had no power, when it was supposed to be turned on for the wedding. Y’all. This is why you have a planner or coordinator. Even though I’m a planner myself, when I get married, I would not dream of having a wedding without a coordinator because of situations like these. I digress.
Thankfully, it worked out and we got the power going minutes before the ceremony started and no one was the wiser.
In fact, everything played out wonderfully and Di + Jinho got an absolutely beautiful ceremony. Heck, the sun even came out and shone directly on them! It was a total movie scene moment and I couldn’t have asked for more!
Ohhhhh, would you check that lovely weather out?!?! Feel free to appreciate the view too.
Let’s start at the beginning. I was beyond ecstatic about the weather and gave you a sneak peek.
Pretty bride! Di is one of those people with a really good eye for style and design, and I really loved everything she chose as decor for her wedding.
Her dress was breathtaking! Not everyone can pull of a dress like this but Di rocked it. It has feathers at the bottom! Sigh.
First look. I think Jinho approves.
Some time during the reception, the clouds gave in and rain started unleashing down below. It wasn’t just a slight drizzle either but rather, a lightning show with floods rushing down from the heavens. Since we were in the skyscraper with glass windows from floor to ceiling, it was breathtaking seeing the rain while feeling warm, fuzzy and happy indoors. The DJ kept the music going and it was a really fantastic end to a beautiful wedding.
Okay, one more time – let’s appreciate the weather again.
Congratulations to Di + Jinho!
