Merrilee and Greg are jet setters, having lived in the Big Apple before settling down in Texas. Since they are both city dwellers, it was natural that they wanted their wedding to be in the heart of Dallas and for everything to be nearby their loft downtown.

They opted for a ceremony outdoors and had the most gorgeous weather that day. Guests were then whisked away by the city’s efrogs to Local, a wonderfully intimate restaurant tucked away in the Deep Ellum area.

Disclaimer: You guys – if you have never stepped foot into Local, I strongly encourage you to change that. Chef Tracy cooked up one of the best meals I have ever had in Dallas, and the service was top-notch. It is such a hidden gem!

But back to their wedding…both Merrilee and Greg wanted something cozy, classy yet fun for guests. When I went for a site visit with Merrilee to Local, it jumped at me to do a rich gold theme as that would tie in nicely to the brown wood and brick tones of the building. I am so glad for clients that believe in me and my vision! It matched so well with the gold in her dress and just made the night luxurious but not over-the-top.

They had fun details like their stationery mailed out with a stamp of Olivia, their stunning Great Dane, to personalized CD favors with their favorite tunes. The night ended with karaoke and sparklers – a fitting end to a laid back and perfect day.
