As a Dallas wedding planner, we’ve learned that the best days are rarely the easiest ones, and Mye + Zach’s wedding threw in some curveballs with the weather. It takes a village to pull off a wedding, and we had a great one on our side. The weather that day was all sorts of wonderful, pouring sporadically through the morning and afternoon and testing every plan we had in place.

A Rain-Soaked Start to a Dallas Outdoor Wedding Ceremony

It was down to the wire setting up for the outdoor ceremony, and Top Tier Event Rentals came through (without even being asked!!!) with an entirely new batch of chair cushions after the first set got soaked. Kate and her team battled the same weather to build a wall of foliage and flowers from scratch. It was almost comical watching every vendor look disheveled by early afternoon, wind-blown and damp, all racing the clock. But when it came time for the ceremony, you’d never know we had been at war with wind and water just minutes prior.

The sun came out in full blast, and guests took their seats under clear skies. You’d never have known that, just minutes earlier, it was pouring rain.

OG Bridesmaids and a Sentimental Morning

Beyond the weather, this wedding had a really special element. Mye’s mother is still close friends with all of her own bridesmaids from when she was married. While Mye was getting ready, that original group (we started calling them the “OG bridesmaids”) met up with Mye’s crew to offer well wishes and blessings before the ceremony.

Banquette Seating: A Fresh Take on the Mansion Ballroom Reception

The layout for this reception broke from the usual playbook. Instead of the standard chairs, we used banquette seating throughout the Mansion’s ballroom. It made for a more intimate setting, and the plush upholstery made for a noticeably more comfortable evening.

A Fitting Finish for Two D.C.-Based Newlyweds

Congratulations to the happy couple! Both work in Washington, D.C., which made a playful, campaign-style sign fitting for the dance floor.

We then ended the night with honey butter chicken biscuits from Whataburger, which guests were pretty excited to see!
