To say Alexandra was busy is an understatement. She was a Ph.D. student and while the original plan was to graduate before her wedding, the pandemic threw a wrench into things and we had a whole bunch of life moments mixed in simultaneously!
On top of dealing with postponements, med school, residency, job hunting, apartment scouting, moving, the list went on and on. You’d never know though because this bride always had a smile on her face and was nothing but gracious throughout.
This is when having a solid team behind you pays off in spades. Despite all the reschedules, everyone was more than willing to be a team player where needed and at the end of the day, Alex had a beautiful, large, big Greek wedding at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and Union Station!
This was a wedding that was full of vibrant jewel tones as Alex was drawn to those shades. It was a day filled with friends, family, culture, and personal touches. Her late mother was honored with a bouquet of flowers and seat at the front, grandmother made Greek cookies specifically for dessert, and her brother surprised her by singing live at the reception!
There was so much laughter and joy throughout the day, especially when Greek music began to play. All the dancing really kicked into full force then. No one left before the night was over and the couple exited the venue to so much cheers, applause, and well wishes from their guests!
Below is the review Alex left:
“Sarah and her team are amazing. I spoke with five different planners, and chose Sarah because she customizes services depending on what the bride wants, and was transparent – she walked me through her organization process step-by-step. Sarah went above and beyond as a planner when I had to postpone my wedding by 10 months. I didn’t have to worry at all about communicating with my vendors – she handled it all beautifully!
She also did a wonderful job narrowing down vendors for me to choose from, and I loved every single one of them. I also had the opportunity to meet Tzahhia and Stephanie during my wedding weekend and they were on top of it! The execution of the rehearsal, getting-ready, ceremony, and reception was flawless thanks to Keestone Events. I would recommend them to anyone!”
You can also learn more about their journey in Alex’s own words:
We first met at the Greek food festival at our church in Atlanta! We were both really involved in young adult events through the Church and eventually organized a conference together. The weekend of the conference was when we realized our relationship was more than friends!
We always knew we were going to have a traditional Big Fat Greek Wedding! I went to a reception at Union Station for my bible study group leader when I was in college and fell in love with the venue. I knew I wanted my reception there!
I will never forget when the band (In10City) invited me and Nick up to the stage when we were singing “All I Do is Win.” We put our hands up and saw the rest of the guests in front of the stage do it with us. We loved looking out at all our family and friends together having so much fun!! We know we’d never have another day where all of our loved ones were together so we soaked the moment in as best as we could!
We have a Greek wedding tradition where we give away five Jordan almonds to each guest to symbolize “health, wealth, happiness, family, and long life.” We’ve never really liked the traditional Jordan almonds (also known as koufeta) but wanted to follow the tradition so we tweaked it a bit. We bought delicious chocolate covered Jordan almonds and gave those away instead! They were a hit!
I love the part of the Greek Orthodox Wedding ceremony called the “Dance of Isaiah” where the priest leads us around the table three times; three to signify the Holy Trinity. These are technically our first steps together as husband and wife! My cousin also gifted us wedding candles with skirts made out of my mom’s wedding veil. My mom passed away four years ago, so having those candles while doing the Dance of Isaiah made us feel like she was walking with us. It was so special!
I don’t remember where I got this advice but I’d like to pass it on…when planning for a wedding gets stressful, just imagine how happy you will be seeing the pictures and video from your wedding day. Won’t it be worth it?! It was definitely worth it for us, even after postponing the wedding due to COVID restrictions and planning it long distance from Atlanta! OH, and…hire a wedding planner!!!
