These past few weeks have been surreal to say the least with the emergence of Covid-19. It has disrupted and devastated so much, and unfortunately seems like it will be staying for a while. As planners who have been in business for almost a decade, we are plugged into the events industry and have been consistently getting updates on the situation and trying to stay ahead as we thrive on order and having a plan in place.
This was a time where speed came into play as both government and city enacted changes that were unpredictable, rapid and constant. Recommendations were given to cancel events over 500, then directives, which quickly dropped to 250, 50 and as of writing this, that number has dropped to ten.
These past few days, we have been quiet on social media as we have been neck-deep moving all our weddings over the next eight weeks to a later date this year. We have spent countless hours working overtime to ensure that we are swift in responses so our couples get the first pick of available dates and vendors. When certain vendors are already booked, we help find a compromise with what their contracts say and what is fair. We then try and find a replacement vendor, combing through our network for others that the couple will connect with and love. We have spent years cultivating relationships and have seen the best (and worst) of people in business.
At Keestone Events, we take our referrals seriously and are so proud to say that every single vendor we have recommended has come through in the most amazing way. No one has charged a fee to move dates, people have refunded where they could and they have all been immensely flexible and compassionate. It’s in these difficult moments where you see real personalities shine through and we cannot be prouder of the group of small business owners that we surround ourselves with.
When our couples book with us, they are able to postpone their wedding with no penalty and fees, for up to 12 months. We understand that things happen in life that are out of our control, and we take the motto, “do unto others…” very seriously! We pride ourselves on being fair, transparent, efficient and warm.
Sadly, the current landscape will impact countless businesses and not everyone will remain standing at the end. We are here as a support during the uncertainty and will be doing our very best to fill in the gaps where needed. It would be unrealistic to promise a smooth journey during this time of uncertainty, but you can bet we are working hard to pave the road you’ll be walking on. We take on a handful of weddings each year at Keestone Events, so we can truly focus on quality and level of service.
One thing the women on our team have in common is our love for the details and organization. Our backgrounds range from social catering managers at prominent hotels and venues to various managerial roles from advertising to supply chain. What we all have in common though, is that we’re big fans of details (just wait until you see our spreadsheets), and we have found a calling in this industry.
Ultimately, this will pass. It will take time, but this period will not last forever. We know how stressful weddings can be, so consider us your biggest cheerleaders (on top of your parents). We have laughed, cried and toasted with our couples and will continue to do so until every single one of them has that wedding they have spent months planning for.
In fact, it has been the biggest compliment when our brides have become friends and two of our former brides have joined our team in the process as planners!
Please know that we sincerely care and hope that you won’t hesitate to reach out. Whether it’s for a consultation where you want to learn more about us, our process, or need some advice. We are here for you, and we will get through this together.
