dallas wedding planner garden ceremony and tented reception

Jennifer and David are a couple who had a vision and knew exactly what they wanted. Details are something both take a lot of delight in, and many hours were spent pouring through every single aspect, to ensure guests had a wonderful time. Sarah, a lead Dallas wedding planner with Keestone Events, helped plan and design both their rehearsal dinner at The Rosewood Mansion and wedding day at Arlington Hall.  No guest was left hungry, that’s for sure. The couple are foodies in every sense of the word, and they wanted their friends and family to experience nothing but the very best!

They decided on an outdoor ceremony at the Formal Garden of Arlington Hall. Guests then headed indoors to enjoy cocktail hour before walking through the venue to a tented reception space. There was a pianist playing during cocktail hour along with bubble tea was brought in, and those were huge hits. The bubble tea especially did not last very long, when there were multiple flavors to be enjoyed.

It was a beautiful night, and the tent looked especially lovely, with flickering candles and soft flowers throughout. Congratulations to this couple, who wanted nothing more than to have a wonderful weekend celebrating with loved ones!

Tell us about your love story – how did you meet?

We first met during our first few weeks in Dallas, Texas, in 2018, after connecting via the miracles of modern technology and a few rightward swipes. When we first met, I (Jennifer) had just completed my first day of work at the medical practice (but did not tell David this…) and David was in the first few weeks of his new role in aerospace manufacturing.

It was cold and rainy throughout our first date. David made us walk in the rain because he parked in the wrong garage, and he felt fortunate to advance to a second date. I may be the doctor, but during our first date, David diagnosed the pain in my foot from running and explained the best way to rehab my injury. I was impressed!

What was your vision for the wedding?

Our vision was a timeless, classic, romantic look. I loved the idea of a tent wedding at Arlington Hall and gardens (where we had one of our first dates). I love nature and wanted to be in the gardens without the Dallas heat, so a tent seemed like both a beautiful and practical answer.

As for the design, we chose ivories and light pink colors for a bright and airy look, lots of candles for a romantic feel, and chandeliers for an elegant touch. We were very focused on making sure our guests had a comfortable and fun time. Given that Dallas weather could be unpredictable with the heat, we chose a venue with both indoor and outdoor space.

What was your favorite part of the day?

Our favorite part of the day was our first dance to Luke Combs’s “Forever After All”. When we first heard this song, David said that he agreed with Luke Combs and didn’t believe in forever until we met, too.

What unique elements or DIY details did you include?

We included boba tea drinks during the cocktail hour. It was a sunny day in Dallas, so we thought guests would enjoy the option of a refreshing non-alcoholic beverage.

We liked having a flower wall as a backdrop for our guest’s “photo-booth”.  A photo-booth attendant assisted guests in emailing digital copies to themselves or printing out a copy to have as a keepsake. We wanted our guests to have all the options for capturing a fun night!

The light up accessories (crowns and sunglasses) also added a fun touch to the dancing at the end of the night.

Were there any sentimental moments/items incorporated to the wedding?

The knot tying portion in our ceremony was sentimental. We enjoyed incorporating the original meaning of “tying the knot” into our wedding. We also had each of our alma mater’s fight songs played during the dancing (Notre Dame and Army West Point)!

What advice do you have for other couples/brides-to-be?

This will be one of the best days of your life! Enjoy every minute of it…yes, even the planning. Even though it was at times stressful, we had a great wedding planner who helped us make our dream wedding come to life.

Because she knew the venue well, she was very helpful with the layout and designs. She also knew the vendors in the area, and because our schedule was so busy, she was able to take us to look at the decorative pieces in a time-saving manner. Lastly, the execution of the wedding day was flawless, and we were able to enjoy the wedding and time with our family and friends.
