arlington hall wedding

Rebecca and Adam’s spring wedding at Arlington Hall was a heartwarming affair, filled with emotions and love. Sarah, one of our lead Dallas wedding planners, recalled that the speeches from their families and friends were among the highlights of the day, with Rebecca’s father standing out for his heartfelt words. His excitement was evident as he had done this prior for Rebecca’s sister’s wedding the year before and this was something many had come to look forward to. And, it did not disappoint! It produced all the emotions from laughter to tears to feelings of warmth and happiness.

Rebecca’s vision of a beautiful outdoor wedding came to life, all the unpredictable, Dallas weather played nice that day with wonderful weather! The couple’s love for each other was palpable throughout the day, making their celebration truly heartwarming. Congratulations to Rebecca and Adam!

Tell us about your love story – how did you meet?

Like all the kids these days, Adam and I first found each other through Hinge, an online dating app. I had been living in Washington DC for almost 3 years and was honestly about to entirely give up on dating in the city. But, then Adam moved to DC, and suddenly I was back on the scene. We actually had our first date within a week of him moving to DC (I would later find out that he was still sleeping on an air mattress in his apartment at the time). It’s hard to describe, but it was really one of those “when you know, you know” situations. We ended up closing down the restaurant on our first date, and we both left feeling like we had met our future husband/wife. Sure enough, we were right!

What was your vision for the wedding?

Our vision was to have a romantic garden party under the stars, and we also wanted to have a wild dance floor at the end of the night. I feel like it’s challenging to find venues that accommodate both of these, but we felt like Arlington Hall was the perfect fit. We loved that we were able to have the ceremony, cocktail hour, and seated dinner outside but then also transition into the main hall for dancing at the end of the night. Adam and I envisioned the whole day being so rich with emotion. We weren’t afraid of the long speeches, and we didn’t feel the need to hold back the happy tears because we really wanted everyone to feel and experience the love and joy on our wedding day, and I think that really came through.

What was your favorite part of the day?

My favorite part of the day would have to be the ceremony. It was such a surreal experience to be up there with the sun shining down on us, surrounded by my closest family and friends, and to have my uncle officiate the wedding. At the end of the day, the ceremony is what we were all there to celebrate, and so much thought went into making every moment personal to us.

What unique elements or DIY details did you include?

Adam and I both wanted our first dance to be unique and personal to us. We wanted to choose a song that we hadn’t heard many people use before, and we ended up going with ‘In Love with Your Soul – The Collection’ after many long car rides narrowing down the list. We are no professional dancers, but we also decided to choreograph our entire dance ourselves with a few pointers from YouTube videos. Another thing that comes to mind are our wedding signature cocktails. Adam is an amateur mixologist, so we wanted to put a little more thought into our signature cocktails. We spent many date nights testing different cocktail recipes to find the perfect concoctions, and we later found out that my very own Richmond Gimlet was the hit of the night!

Were there any sentimental moments/items incorporated to the wedding?

One thing that is really special to both me and Adam is our family . We feel blessed that both our grandparents and parents have had long-lasting marriages, and we also wanted to find a way to honor them, especially our late grandparents who weren’t able to celebrate with us. For our guest book, we created a photo book for people to sign that was full of photos of me and Adam from our relationship. Flanking on both sides were framed photos of our parents and grandparents from their respective wedding days. It was so fun and sentimental to hunt down all the photos and appreciate the legacy that has been left for us.

What advice do you have for other couples/brides-to-be?

My advice would be to stick to your vision and trust your gut, but also recognize that you may change your mind about some things, and that is totally okay. For many brides, you may be planning your wedding over a year in advance, and if you are anything like me, you may start to second-guess decisions you made earlier on in the planning process. My planner, Sarah, was great to help talk through things in those moments, and when needed, she also helped re-adjust the plan without any added stress! I ended up swapping my floral design a few months in and also completely changing my linens 2 weeks before the wedding. I’m so glad I did because I absolutely loved the way everything turned out. My other piece of advice would be to just enjoy the process. It will go by before you know it, and you only get to experience it once in your life!

Here is the incredible review Rebecca left for Sarah:
“Wow I cannot recommend Keestone Events enough – choosing them was the best decision we made for our wedding!! Our planner, Sarah, thought through every detail and, most importantly, she made the wedding planning enjoyable rather than stressful. I can’t even tell you how many times people remarked on how “not stressed” I seemed leading up to the wedding, and every single I time, all I said was “well I have an amazing planner.” In the final days leading up to the wedding, there was a rain scare and our wedding was supposed to be almost entirely outdoors. Sarah stayed calm and helped us navigate the final decisions leading up to the big day. Reflecting back, our wedding was the best day of our lives but I think it’s so special that we were truly able to enjoy the whole process thanks to Sarah and Keestone Events.”
