Jessica and Quincy were married at The Westin in Downtown Dallas. Sarah, their Dallas wedding planner, loved getting to know Jessica and Quincy. Both are down-to-earth, classy, and overall wonderful people who were just excited to be married. During the rehearsal, you could see Quincy pumped and so ready to make things official the next day! He was rocking back and forth while (im)patiently waiting for Jessica to walk down the aisle!
Both made their wedding completely theirs with personal touches unique to them. From having a circular ceremony (uhm, yes please!), to flipping bride + groom sides and having a surprise groom’s cake brought out for Quincy, there were unexpected twists all throughout. Although Quincy is in his sixth year in the NBA and currently plays for the Brooklyn Nets, he is a true Dallas Cowboys fan, and one of his favorite things about the wedding was a Dallas Cowboys cake brought out later on in the night!
There was much laughter throughout the night and it’s clear to see that these two are wild about the other. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Tell us about how you met!
We met while attending Baylor University, Quincy was a sophomore and I was a freshman. When people hear this they usually think we were college sweethearts, but that wasn’t the case at all. We had mutual friends upon meeting and ended up remaining good friends throughout our college careers. It wasn’t until I graduated in 2014 that Quincy said he was “waiting for me to join him in the real world” (because he had graduated before me) to approach me romantically. I was skeptical at first, but after hearing that I had accepted my first big corporate position post-graduation (I was working PR at the time), he sent me flowers congratulating me and the sweep-me-off-my-feet stage began! We couldn’t get enough of each other to say the least.
How did you know they were the one:
Quincy– I can say that I knew Jessica was the one on multiple occasions, it’s cliche to say that as soon as I laid eyes on her I knew she was the one, but when I first saw her my sophomore year of college, I literally thought she was the most beautiful human being that I had ever seen, so much so that I couldn’t stop telling my friends that day about how gorgeous she was lol. From then on just us building a friendship and hanging out I knew she was the one I wanted to be with, and after years in a relationship I knew without a doubt that she was my soulmate and the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
Jess– For me, I think I always knew in the back of my mind that Quincy was “the one”, but the moment that made it very clear was Christmas, 2015. We were living in Sacramento – he was playing for the Kings at the time – and although it was his fourth year in the league and he had seemingly learned how to deal with being away from home, being away from my family for an extended amount of time was still tough for me, especially during the holiday season. Even though I tried to act like it didn’t bother me, Quincy could see right through my act. It was a few days before Christmas and Q said he was going to run to the store to pick up some last minute things before it closed. I was lounging in the living room with the fire place glowing and hear the front door open and see him walk in but from behind I hear someone say,” Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas!” I instantly got chills because I knew those voices anywhere – it was my mom and sister, I remember running up to them and almost knocking them over, I was filled with pure joy! Hugging them in tears, I glanced at Q as he just stood and watched and smiled, so selflessly, in the background… That’s when I knew I wanted to be loved by him forever.
How did he propose?
We dated for a little over a year and a half before he popped the question. First, he surprised me and said he was treating me and my best friend/MOH, Jennie, to a girls’ spa day. Because she lives out of town, I hadn’t seen her in a few months so at the time it just seemed like a really thoughtful gesture to allow us to catch up! After being pampered all day, massages, facials, manis, pedis, blow outs, champagne etc, he said that we had a mandatory team dinner to attend with his teammates and the coaching staff at Nick and Sam’s steak house – also not out of the ordinary, so I obliged without question. Because we were at the spa all day, we were running late and ended up having to meet Quincy at the team dinner instead of riding together. When I arrived at the restaurant I remember being so angry with him because I texted him asking him to meet me out front so that I wouldn’t have to be the awkward girlfriend walking in late, but he replied back saying he was in the middle of “an important conversation” with his coach so to ask the host escort me to the private room where they were seated. *Cue eyeroll* So as we’re walking through the restaurant I’m trying to wipe the attitude off of my face and remind myself that this man just gave me the sweetest day ever. Little did I know what he had for me behind the doors of the private room… The host looked at me and smiled, then opened the double doors. Where I expected to see a bunch of men in suits, I saw all of our family and friends. They had come from all over the country to be there. They screamed, “Surprise!” and I swear I couldn’t have been more confused! And then, all of a sudden, I hear some music start to play and the crowd of our loved ones parted down the middle to reveal Quincy standing at the opposite end of the room waiting for me to come to him. I think that’s when it hit me. I remember thinking out loud, “Wow… This is it.” *instant tears* The music I was hearing came from a vocalist standing next to him, serenade me and the rest of the room with an original song he wrote; it was like he had taken our love story and put it over the most perfect melody. When I tell you I could not stop crying! With my hands in his, he got down on one knee and poured his heart out to me in front of everyone we know and love and asked me to marry him. In between sobs, I nodded and said, “Yes.” He said, “Girl, I can’t hear you?!” “HELL YES!” I yelled. Everyone went wild and we partied the night away. Absolutely perfect.
Please tell us a little bit about the inspiration for your wedding design.
We (Quincy and I) liked the idea of an outdoor wedding, but given that we were planning for the middle of July in Dallas, TX, the heat is just something we were not interested in subjecting ourselves or our guests to lol. But that did make for our inspiration when looking for a venue. Somewhere that allowed for lots of natural light to give an outdoor and airy feel. As far as the reception, our goal was to simply give our guests a night to remember.
Were there any challenges that came up while planning the wedding that you had a creative solution for? ( Color Scheme, Season, Budget, Weather)
The season made our dream of an outdoor wedding null and void so instead we went with a ballroom with 360 degree panoramic windows with a skylight ceiling. It gave a very outdoor feeling without the 100 degree weather. It was also in a hotel that allowed for all of our out of town guests, being that I’m from San Antonio. We also debated the color scheme for awhile because we wanted to stick to a very clean color pallet, without it being an all white wedding. We came up with ivory, clear, and champagne accents, with hints of dusty blue in our florals.
What was the most memorable moment from your wedding?
For both of us, the moment when the doors opened and we both saw each other for the first time, right before I walked down the aisle. A close second would be the moment after dinner was served and our planner raised the shades of the reception ballroom revealing the entire Dallas skyline! The ballroom was on the 32nd floor of the hotel so you could literally see all of Dallas. It was breathtaking.
Were there any traditions you chose to include in your wedding day? Any you didn’t?
I have deep Mexican roots, so it was important to me to incorporate some of my heritage into our wedding. We had a mariachi band play during cocktail hour and it felt like it brought a little piece of San Antonio to this big Dallas hotel.
My favorite wedding accessory:
My ivory and rose gold Sophia Webster heels. They’re my favorite because Quincy actually picked them out for me. I was having such a hard time finding shoes that coordinated with my dress because of its unique color, so like with everything else, I ran to Q to ask for his opinion even though he had not even the slightest clue as to what my dress looked like. And he came back with these amazing shoes! He said he loved the wing accent because I would be his “angel walking down the aisle” *swoon*
Do you have any tips for future brides?
Be honest with yourself! If you know you’re a procrastinator, stick to a strict schedule. If you’re a little scatterbrained, budget for a wedding planner. And if your husband-to-be wants to take part in the planning process, utilize him! Quincy was my biggest help throughout this entire process.
Advice for grooms from Q:
For the men, comfort your fiancé/wife to be, these are the beginning stages of your trust and belief in one another… She will be on emotional highs and lows, as expected, and you have to be the one that gives her that constant stability as well as her pressure release. Offer help – you don’t want her to feel like she’s doing it all alone, be involved and remember certain things that need to be done, and surprise her by getting them done without her asking. (Be smart with this one, don’t go for the big fish lol, start out small like reminding her about cake tasting 
) . It’s a wonderful time during the engagement, you will fall for each other even more just knowing what you are heading towards. Love her hard, brag on her and treat her like the Queen that she is, she’s all yours now.
