Earlier this year, eleven industry vendors came together for this Alice in Wonderland meets The Secret Garden inspired styled shoot and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share this with you.
The Alice concept has been one that has inspired many but we wanted to portray it a little differently. Our goal was to have something mature, yet whimsical and mischievous at the same time. Arlington Hall was the ideal location to house the shoot as they have gorgeous gardens with brown ivy that captured that Secret Garden element so perfectly.
There are aspects of the shoot that are quintessentially Alice i.e. the drink and eat me signs, rabbits and teapots to name a few. However, we wanted to show a slightly darker, more grown-up version that was depicted in the invitation suite, gothic mirror and bar. We’d like to think an older Alice in the future would enjoy spiked tea and bramble!
There were pops of color within the shoot that really made it come to life with brightly colored napkins, mismatched china and the pink Priscilla couch – Rent My Dust was absolutely pivotal with this part. The company has such beautiful items that just seemed as if it was made for the theme! On top of that, We + You did a wonderful job with the floral arrangements. They pulled from flowers you don’t typically find in weddings and really had a blast with the theme by using protea, hellebores, ferns and even dried mushrooms! We also wanted to have the mischievous incorporated which you’ll see with our creation of the King and Queen signs for the bride and groom, along with the wooden sign with ‘directions’ to the wedding.
Additionally, we wanted to evoke a sense of intimacy and that came with ES Events hanging string lights and lanterns to elevate the setting at the same time. Panini Bakery and Dandelion Cheesecakes came in with multiple cakes to display and delicious cheesecakes which helped tie everything together!
