Spring Wedding Inspiration at the Dallas Arboretum

SHARE STORY:

Today I wanted to share the concept behind our Spring Citrus Wedding shoot at the Dallas Arboretum that has been featured in print in the Brides of North Texas magazine! We wanted to welcome Spring with a fun, yet elegant statement filled with bold hues. Our color palette was orange, yellow, fuchsia and a pale gray to balance all the shades out.

This season is a cheerful time when flowers come into bloom, and we wanted to highlight that with vibrant centerpieces and stationery. A fun twist on that was to insert fruit where in unexpected areas like the place cards and as part of the main centerpiece.

Our calligrapher also spun a unique look on the invitation envelope by invoking a whimsical script that echoed the playfulness of the flowers. As everything else was so bright, it was important that we bring a sense of grace through the linens, place settings and furniture. We wanted to evoke the feeling that Spring brings, and craft a shoot that is as chic and effortless as our inspiration.

We also wanted to blend capricious and sophistication together with the bride. Her dress held delicate lace details and flowers were placed in her hair for a sense of whimsy.

There’s always so much planning and details that go on behind the scenes. For instance, when we were planning for this, it fell right in the middle of fall and the Arboretum had just set up their decor for that season. If you have been there during October, you’ll know that it is a pumpkin wonderland. To get the shot that we wanted, we had to move what felt like three hundred pumpkins…and, move them all back. I got my workout for the week, and found out that crickets like to hang out by pumpkins for some reason. You can never tell though what goes on behind-the-scenes from these images!

These vendors were all a delight to work with, and it just makes the end result all the better. I hope you love how this shoot turned out!
