I can’t tell you how excited I was when The Brides of North Texas let me know that our Grayscale-styled shoot made their the cover of their Fall/Winter 2019 issue! What better way for our Dallas event planners to start off a Monday than with that news!

I designed this shoot specifically with The Modern Museum of Fort Worth in mind. With its gray stone, concrete, chrome, and metal, it was a blank canvas where accenting with freestanding flowers helped bring about the sense of the wild to all the lines of the space. Jessica, with Root and Bloom was able to get Pampas Grass in June (amazingggg feat) and we were off to the races from there. We wanted to capture the organic but at the same time, have an air of refinement to the concept. This was incorporated with the freestanding floral installation that had structure but was free-flowing at the same time, and the stationery also combined the two elements by mixing print with calligraphy. To follow through those clean lines, the Vera Wang gown that we used had a minimal silhouette, paired off with delicate, graceful sleeves.

Our wonderful photographer and videographer were also able to capture the vendors working behind the scenes, something we rarely have images of. My sister-in-law’s sister (if there is a shorter word for this, please let me know!) was in town for the weekend and I wrangled her into assisting me with said shoot. She mentioned that it was an eye-opening experience since she was able to see how the pretty really happens and how there is a lot more movement and running around going on to get that perfect shot!
