Sotear and Michael’s wedding at Dallas Scottish Rite will be one that I remember for a very long time, if not for the rest of my life!

This couple has fantastic taste and they definitely know what they want. They selected one of the most gorgeous venues, knew the importance of lighting, and realized that because of the opulence of the location, less is more. They didn’t need elaborate and over-the-top centerpieces but opted for a more classic look which paired beautifully together.

Then out of nowhere, Icemageddon hit on Thursday and Dallas essentially shut down for almost a week when just days before, the weather was in the 70s and 80s. After being here for so long, I’ve learned to just accept the weather here and roll along with things. The weather showed no sign of letting up and went over to the weekend. For those of you up North, I understand how this might seem insignificant but for a city that only owns two snowplows because this never happens, it makes a difference. I felt so sorry for couples who had their weddings that Friday and Saturday! I heard horror stories of nearly empty venues because guests had to stay indoors due to weather and teary brides who walked down the aisle in nearly vacant churches.

Sotear and Michael’s wedding was that Sunday. That weekend, we had three hair artists cancel because they couldn’t drive in the ice. Sotear took it all in stride. Her make up artist stepped up to the plate and took care of it all! With 12 bridesmaids, it definitely was not an easy task and I really have to commend her for that!

Aside from that little hiccup, the wedding went so smoothly! This couple has amazing friends who showed up despite the weather. I also suspect that most everyone had cabin fever by Sunday and was ready for a party! And man, did they celebrate. This was a really fun crowd and it was a PACKED house.

There were a lot of favorite moments in this wedding – from the Marine Arch of Swords for the ceremony exit to Sotear + Michael’s very sexy first dance to a few of the groomsmen rapping and singing as a part of their toast! All these details really served to make this wedding theirs and therefore be all the more memorable.

Icemageddon can’t stop this celebration!
